Maya ChatWin is a tool within Autodesk Maya to allow remote terminals to talk to each other. It allows user to send text message, MEL script and Python script to remote machine.

This tool is the one of the few available Maya tool, 100% built solely on PYTHON.

Current Version Features:
1. Able to send message to remote clients via Telnet
2. Able to send scripts (Mel or Python) via the chat window
from server terminal. The term “server” is determined by
whoever runs the “mayaChatWin()” command in Maya.
3. Able to add/ delete custom IP addresses.
4. Able to add Nickname to each of the IP addresses to distinguish
your colleagues and friends within the same network.
5. Able to block messages and scripts from any incoming sources.
6. Popup message to request users for their acceptance before running a script from remote source.

After running the installer,
1. Restart Maya if you have any Maya opened.
2. Run the script “ mayaChatWin() ” in Python Script Editor Window to remotely
chat with the clients within the network. This will load a window with a
list of IP address that your company might have.

*note: clients/slave machines do not need to execute step 2. If step 2 is executed, the machine will have the full features of a Master Server.

For uninstallation:
Win x86 system:
Go to Control Panel > Uninstall Program for MayaChatWin.
Go to your temp dir (usually C:\Documents and Settings\USER\Local Settings\Temp), delete mayaChatWin.

Win x64 system:
Go to the scripts folder of your MAYA_APP_DIR. Usually MAYA_APP_DIR is in your Documents > Maya > Version of Maya you using. Remove chatWin.zip.

Mac system:
Go to your Maya Preference folder (usually ~/Library/Preferences/Autodesk/Maya/2008/script), remove all mayaChatWin files in there. Go to your temp dir and delete mayaChatWin
